Crews of BM-21 Grad multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) from the 9th Brigade of the 51st Army of the Center group of forces carry out regular area strikes against the Ukrainian group in the city of Dimitrov, Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). Izvestia showed the work of Russian fighters in the area of the special military operation (SVO).

"She shoots at almost 21 km, her range is 20 km — the weapon covers the area. We leave [for positions] every day, we leave several times. The division's control platoon, which is engaged in correction, reconnaissance, detection — we are working according to their data," the commander of the combat vehicle, deputy platoon commander with the call sign Ivanich told Izvestia correspondent Dmitry Astrakhan..

After the final liberation of Krasnoarmeysk, a large number of personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) remained concentrated in the city of Dimitrov, which is already undergoing building battles. It was there that the remnants of several Ukrainian units retreated after unsuccessful attempts to break through, and today, according to various estimates, hundreds of militants may be in Dimitrov, although their number is decreasing daily under the blows of Russian UAVs and artillery.

"20 rockets went off at Dimitrov. Now the weather is putting a strain on artillery damage again, and our army is realizing the advantage in terms of the number of barrels and ammunition," the correspondent noted.

The driver, a BM-21 Grad MLRS loader with the call sign Veter, a volunteer from Donetsk, shared that he became an artilleryman after experiencing shelling from Ukraine back in 2014. He noted that the crews are working smoothly: the vehicle commanders are directing the actions, the shooters from above are monitoring, and the escort provides cover. Electronic warfare (EW) and manual firing are used to protect against drones.

"The drones were falling right next to the car, you could say," he added.

The gunners call their vehicles "girls" and give them names. For example, the "Grad" driver's name is Nyusha. According to him, the equipment has repeatedly taken the crew out of difficult combat situations, was damaged, but returned to service after repairs.

On December 3, soldiers of the assault unit of the Central Group of Forces told the details of the fighting in the Red Army of the DPR. During the capture of this settlement, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation used an unconventional approach: they invisibly infiltrated the city in small groups, occupied important positions in prepared areas and only then went on the offensive. This strategy made it possible to catch the Ukrainian militants by surprise.
