The court arrested the ex-deputy of the State Duma Voronovsky in the case of receiving a bribe

Moscow's Basmanny Court has arrested former State Duma deputy Anatoly Voronovsky in a case of receiving a particularly large bribe. This was announced on December 3 by the court's press service.

The day before, the State Duma prematurely terminated Voronovsky's powers at the plenary session on the basis of his statement.

On November 11, State Duma deputies unanimously supported the arguments of the Prosecutor General, agreeing to lift immunity and initiate proceedings against Voronovsky. During the plenary session, the Prosecutor General of Russia, Alexander Gutsan, delivered a report.

Prior to that, the State Duma commission recommended approving the deprivation of Voronovsky's parliamentary immunity and opening a criminal case against him. Voronovsky said on the same day that he was in Moscow, was not trying to hide, and was ready to answer all questions from the investigation. He added that the law enforcement agencies had made no official claims against him and he did not know what they were accusing him of.
