New Zealander Paige Swisted overcame end-stage brain cancer
New Zealander Paige Swisted has overcome terminal brain cancer after a year of intensive treatment. This was reported by the Daily Mail newspaper.
According to the publication, Suisted was diagnosed with the most aggressive form of astrocytoma of the fourth stage, an incurable brain cancer that usually occurs in children. Doctors found a tumor the size of a golf ball and gave the patient no more than 18 months to live.
It is clarified that after 13 months of daily radiation therapy and powerful chemotherapy, which caused severe side effects, including seizures and physical disability, the tumor completely disappeared in the MRI images. Doctors call this case a medical anomaly, since such results are extremely rare with this diagnosis.
