A man in Moscow was convicted of cruelty to an animal, which led to his death. The press service of the Moscow Prosecutor's office announced this on Monday, December 1.
The court sentenced Sarkis Hovsoyan, a 45-year-old resident of the capital, based on evidence provided by the state prosecutor of the Cheremushkin Interdistrict prosecutor's office. He was found guilty under Part 1 of Article 245 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Cruel treatment of an animal that caused its death").
"It was established that on January 24, 2024, Ovsoyan, being in a forest area on the territory of the specially protected natural area "Teply Stan Landscape Reserve", deliberately, with the aim of causing pain and suffering, approached a Great Dane dog belonging to a resident of the capital and stabbed the animal in the back area with a knife. As a result, the animal received injuries that led to its death," the Moscow City News agency quoted the message as saying.
Ovsoyan pleaded not guilty to the crime, writes "Moscow 24". Taking into account the prosecutor's position, the court sentenced the man to 10 months of correctional labor withholding 10% of his monthly salary to the state income. The court also satisfied the victim's civil claim for a total amount of 400 thousand rubles, writes Life.Ru . The verdict has not entered into legal force.
