Moldova pointed to the authorities' confusion about the timing of the country's accession to the EU

The Moldovan authorities have lost clarity in their promises regarding the timing of the country's accession to the European Union (EU). This was announced on December 1 by former Moldovan Prime Minister and leader of the Liberal Democratic Party Vladimir Filat.

"They no longer understand what they are promising. At first, [Moldovan] President Maia] Sandu said that joining the EU would take place in 2028, then she said that this was the end of negotiations, and then that this was just the beginning. They were lost. Uncertainty about European integration is a symptom of external governance," Filat said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The politician added that the European Union itself does not conduct pragmatic negotiations with Moldova and stressed that Brussels perceives the country "as the only trophy" that it can receive. He also expressed the opinion that the interference of European leaders in the elections in Moldova was obvious.

Earlier, on November 11, Moldovan Prime Minister Alexandre Munteanu announced that the government expects to complete negotiations on EU accession and sign a corresponding agreement in 2028. According to Munteanu, the meeting discussed the latest report of the European Commission, which states that "Moldova has made the biggest leap in preparing for EU membership," which inspires confidence in accelerating the country's path of European integration.

On October 31, the Moldovan parliament approved the composition and program of the Munteanu government. It was noted that 55 deputies voted for the appointment of the government of Munteanu.
