Tankers of the 51st Guards Army told about their combat work during the liberation of Dimitrov

Tankers of the 5th brigade of the 51st Guards Army of the Southern Military District, as part of the Center group of forces, told Izvestia about combat work in the area of the village of Dimitrov in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR).

The tank commander of the 5th brigade of the 51st Guards Army of the Center group of forces with the call sign Rubezh noted that tankers, receiving commands and goals, try their best to help the assault groups. He added that surveillance in combat is conducted, among other things, with the help of drones.

"We watch videos after work, evaluate our work, and try to eliminate any shortcomings, if any," the tank commander said.

Izvestia correspondent Dmitry Astrakhan noted that tank protection is changing practically every day. In particular, the machines are equipped with vertical steel cables — "dreadlocks", as well as their fluffed version for protection from above — "hedgehogs".

The mechanic-driver of the tank of the 5th brigade of the 51st Guards Army of the Center group of forces with the call sign Nikolaevich noted that when the combat vehicle is moving, the dreadlocks wobble and, upon impact, repel the drone or even the charge.

"Dreadlocks and hedgehogs are especially helpful. The task was to destroy, the intelligence found the enemy, and we went out to suppress the enemy. The first was an arrival, the second was an FPV [drone] on the tank, the tank withstood," the serviceman said.

The crews of the 5th brigade of the Southern Military District work in conjunction with cover groups that repel drone attacks.

On November 24, crews of T-80BVM tanks of the 55th Separate Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade (mountain) of the Center group of forces successfully destroyed a stronghold and manpower of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), significantly weakening their positions in the Red Army area of the special military operation. The ministry clarified that after receiving intelligence and confirming it with the help of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), the crew begins a tip-off, which is corrected by infantry and drone video.
