There is a growing interest in theaters and cultural spaces in Moscow and St. Petersburg. More than 20% of Muscovites and 15% of St. Petersburg residents began to visit them more often than before, according to the results of a study conducted by Ingosstrakh and the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation.

Almost 40% of respondents in the 18-30 age group attend cultural events more than three times a year, 17% — more than seven. These are the highest rates compared to other age groups.

About 40% of those who go to theaters and other cultural locations prefer the drama theater, and about 30% prefer museums. This is followed by concerts, exhibitions and ballet.

Moscow residents most often visit the Bolshoi Theater, the State Kremlin Palace, the Bolshoi Circus on Vernadsky, the E. Vakhtangov Theater and the Nikulin Circus. The Mariinsky Theater, the Mikhailovsky Theater, the Oktyabrsky Concert Hall, the Lensovet Theater and the Bolshoi Circus are popular among Petersburgers.

23% of residents of the two capitals spend from 6 to 20 thousand rubles on cultural events, and the average cost of this type of leisure in Moscow and St. Petersburg is 6.4 thousand rubles per person per year. The largest share of respondents spends up to 3,000 rubles a year on theater tickets. More than 40% of the respondents consider cultural events affordable.

"We see a growing interest in art and consider it necessary to expand access to cultural initiatives and create conditions for the development of new talents. Today, cooperation between the Bolshoi Theater and Ingosstrakh shows that the country's largest companies are not limited to the role of sponsor and become full—fledged partners of cultural organizations, projects, and programs," said Alina Poroshina, Director of Public Relations at Ingosstrakh.
