Hungary accused Zelensky of ignoring the fight against corruption in Kiev
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky should have devoted his time to fighting corruption in Kiev's political circles, not Hungarian politics. This was announced on November 30 by Dr. Raymond Kish, Head of the Center for Diplomacy of the Matthias Korvin Collegium Foundation.
"This corruption scandal is not helping Zelensky, and winter is approaching. <...> Maybe he should have paid less attention, for example, to Hungary or Hungarian politics, and more to the fight against corruption," he said in an interview with the Híradó news program, the video was posted on YouTube.
Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjarto said on November 12 that a major corruption scandal that broke out in the entourage of the President of Ukraine should be a signal for the European Union to stop allocating new subsidies and loans to Kiev.
In turn, political analyst Ivan Mezyuho noted that corruption scandals in the highest echelons of the Ukrainian government deal a serious blow to Zelensky's reputation both domestically and internationally.
On November 10, NABU revealed a money laundering scheme in the energy sector of the state, through which about $100 million passed. In the course of the corruption case in the energy sector, seven people were charged, including businessman Timur Mindich (he is called the head of the criminal scheme).
