The Interior Ministry called the signs of fake messages from a hacked account
On November 29, the Interior Ministry announced signs of messages that were sent from a hacked account.
It is noted that such messages contain sudden requests related to sending money, or files with questionable content.
"If an acquaintance or friend in one of the messengers starts asking for money or sends files with suspicious content, this may be a sign that his account has been hacked. <...> Scammers expect people to respond quickly to the request of a familiar person," the TASS news agency explained.
On November 28, the Department for Combating the illegal use of information and Communication Technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation reported that there is a likely risk of fraud victims being deceived again, as they wish to return the lost funds. It was clarified that after encountering scammers, a person often looks for a way to "return the money" or at least understand what to do next. And it is at this point that the risk of repeated deception becomes maximum.
