Sobyanin opened a cluster of video games and animations at Skolkovo
The first stage of a new creative cluster has been opened in the Skolkovo Innovation Center. The site will simultaneously specialize in video games, animation, and media technologies, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said on his channel at the IACH.
According to the mayor, the cluster will become one of the centers for the development of the creative industry in the capital and will allow creating world-class content. "Video games today affect many areas of life, including psychology and social skills. It is very important that the content is of high quality and promotes Russian culture and values," Sobyanin stressed.
As part of the first stage, a data processing center, a motion capture studio for creating realistic graphics, a recording studio, a photogrammetry studio, and a cinema room for viewing and correcting finished materials will start operating in the cluster. The site also houses offices, exhibition spaces, coworking areas, an educational lecture hall, an esports arena and recreation areas.
The second stage of the creative cluster will be opened in 2026, the mayor said. A specialized infrastructure for companies developing technological solutions and offices will be created in a space of 74 thousand square meters.
Eight animation and 33 video game companies have also become residents of the cluster, Sobyanin said. He noted that the benefits of the Skolkovo Foundation are available to them, and they will also be able to receive assistance in the international promotion of their products.
More than 70% of Russian animation is produced in Moscow, the mayor of the capital said earlier. In 2024, about 7 thousand minutes of content were created in the capital.
