Turkish Foreign Minister says he is ready to organize negotiations on Ukraine
Turkey maintains direct contacts with Russia and Ukraine and is ready to organize negotiations in Istanbul again. This was stated on November 28 by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Berlin at a joint press conference with his German counterpart Johann Vadefull.
Fidan recalled that negotiations between representatives of Kiev and Moscow were held again in Istanbul this summer. The Foreign Minister noted that the three rounds of negotiations had produced productive results on many issues.
"We must continue on this path. And Turkey is ready to host the talks in Istanbul again. We maintain direct contacts between the parties," Fidan said, his speech was broadcast on the department's page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
Earlier, on November 19, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called for the continuation of direct talks on Ukraine in Istanbul.
Prior to that, on November 12, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Kyslytsa announced that the country had officially halted peace talks with Russia by the end of the year.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, in turn, stressed on November 13 that the termination of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia indicates the unwillingness of the Ukrainian side to continue the conversation, and this is sad. He added that due to the lack of dialogue between the countries, the Russian Federation will continue to conduct a special military operation.
