In the city of Imatra in Finland, a man was detained for illegally crossing the border from Russia. This was reported on November 27 by the Yle portal with reference to the deputy head of the border guard service of Southeastern Finland, Major Antti Wirth.

"The border crossing was recorded using sensors and patrols with dogs. In the morning, searches were conducted for the intruder, so there were many border patrol cars and even a helicopter in the Imatra area. In the afternoon, the authorities reported that they had detained the man, calmly and without incident," the newspaper quoted Virta as saying.

According to him, the violation occurred on the northern bank of the Vuoksa River — this area has not yet been equipped with a new fence. A preliminary investigation has been launched into the illegal crossing of the state border.

On November 24, the Yle television and radio company reported that the Finnish authorities were erecting barriers one meter from the border with Russia. It was noted that surveillance cameras are installed on the barriers every 20 meters to ensure constant monitoring of the border.
