The expert noted the role of Russia in shaping electricity prices in China

In particular, thanks to Russian energy supplies to China, this country has some of the lowest electricity prices, said Valery Andrianov, associate professor at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation.

In an interview with Kommersant FM, he recalled that, according to Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin, energy currently accounts for about 70% of Russian exports to China. "According to the results of last year, Russia provided about 19% of Chinese energy imports. The total amount of such supplies reached $100 billion. But these are very important figures for both Russia and China," Andrianov said.

He added that supplies from Russia are the most important supporting factor for the Chinese economy. At the same time, China has its own energy resources. "It is actively developing the energy sector and is more than twice as ahead of the United States in terms of investments in the energy sector," the expert explained.

According to him, Russia can guarantee long-term supplies to China. "Our resource base is constantly growing due to geological exploration, unlike the western one, which is declining," Andrianov stressed, adding that Russia supplies energy resources to China at significantly lower prices than the Middle East. "China receives tens of billions of dollars thanks to such cooperation with Russia. Largely due to this cooperation, China has some of the lowest electricity prices," the expert said.

The continuation of aggressive sanctions policy against Russia and China will bring Western countries closer to another economic crisis. "Being deprived of access to our country's resource base and China's component platform, Western opponents will lose their technological and economic subjectivity," Andrianov said.

"An important factor is the lack of affordable energy, which leads to the fact that electricity is much more expensive in the United States and Europe today than in China and Russia. Against this background, the deepening of strategic cooperation between Russia and China is a tool for countering global challenges. In this regard, our cooperation is beneficial not only to Moscow and Beijing, but it will also have a great positive effect for the whole world," the expert concluded.
