- Likhachev commented on rumors about the possibility of Ukraine regaining control of the nuclear power plant.
Ukraine has announced its intention to regain control of the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), but agreements will be reached based on the real state of affairs, and not as it wants. This was announced on November 27 by Alexey Likhachev, head of the Rosatom State Corporation.
"The Russian side has repeatedly said that agreements will be reached not based on what Ukraine wants, but based on the real state of affairs," Likhachev said in a comment to journalist Alexander Yunashev, which was posted on his Telegram channel.
At the same time, he added that Russia does not exclude the possibility of using electricity from nuclear power plants in the format of international cooperation, but this will happen only after reaching peace agreements.
Earlier, on November 25, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, advised Russia and Ukraine to conclude a cooperation agreement on the nuclear power plant. He added that the IAEA's presence at the Zaporizhia NPP must be maintained regardless of the conditions of a possible peace between Russia and Ukraine.
Prior to that, on November 14, Grossi said that joint efforts with the Russian Federation had managed to overcome the "dangerous situation" at the NPP.
