Moldova approves denunciation of agreement on functioning of the Russian House
The Moldovan parliament approved the denunciation of the agreement on the functioning of the Russian House in Chisinau, according to a government decree on November 27.
The decision was adopted in the final reading, 52 deputies from the ruling Action and Solidarity Party voted for it. The meeting was broadcast on the website of the legislative body.
"To denounce the agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of the Russian Federation on the establishment and operation of cultural centers, signed in Moscow on October 30, 1998. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will notify the Russian side of the denunciation of the agreement," the document says.
Prior to that, on November 13, the Moldovan parliament approved in the first reading the draft denunciation of the agreement, according to which the Russian House operates in the republic. 60 deputies of the ruling Action and Solidarity Party, as well as some parliamentarians from the Democracy at Home party, voted for the document.
