- The organizer of the assassination attempt on Solovyov was found to have a bomb and Ukrainian passports.
An improvised explosive device (IED) and passports in the name of Ukrainian citizens were found in the Moscow apartment of Andrei Pronsky, whom investigators consider to be the organizer of the assassination attempt on TV presenter Vladimir Solovyov. This was reported on November 27 by TASS with reference to the case file.
"During a search of the apartment on Samarkand Boulevard where Pronsky lived, IEDs and several passports in the name of Ukrainian citizens were found at the time of his arrest," the agency cites the materials.
During the interrogation by investigators, Pronsky stated that these things were planted on him, and during the trial he used Article 51 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, according to which the suspect has the right not to testify against himself.
According to the prosecution, on April 4, 2022, Pronsky received an assignment on Telegram from employees of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine to commit an assassination attempt on journalist Vladimir Solovyov. In return, he was promised a financial reward.
Earlier, on November 26, it was reported that those accused of the attempted murder of TV presenter Vladimir Solovyov planned to eliminate him with the help of poisoned pizza. The defendants planned to establish Solovyov's residential address, track his order from the delivery, intercept and hand over the poisoned pizza to the journalist. The attackers also considered killing the TV presenter with the help of poison, which they intended to apply to the steering wheel of the car. The third option was to blow up Solovyov's car.
At the end of April 2022, the FSB of Russia suppressed the activities of a terrorist group planning the murder of Solovyov. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation said that during the searches, an improvised explosive device, eight homemade Molotov cocktails, six PM pistols, a sawn-off hunting rifle, drugs, etc. were seized from the attackers.
On October 13, 2023, one of the defendants, Maxim Druzhinin, stated that Solovyov was planned to be killed because of his professional activities and active support for the special operation to protect Donbass. According to him, the participants in the murder were entitled to a reward of 1 million rubles from the curator from Ukraine.
