The Olympic flame lighting ceremony for the Winter Olympic Games was held in Greece.

In Greece, the Olympic flame for the 2026 Winter Olympics was lit at the Archaeological Museum in Ancient Olympia. This was reported on November 26 by the Italian news portal Il Post.

"On Wednesday morning, the Olympic flame was lit in Olympia, Greece. Now she will start the relay race, which lasts more than two months, first visiting several places in Greece, and then in 60 Italian cities," the message says.

The ceremony was attended by President of Greece Konstantinos Tasoulas, President of the IOC Kirsty Coventry, President of the Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Giovanni Malago, President of the NOC of Greece Isidoros Kouvelos and Mayor of Ancient Olympia Aristides Panaytopoulos.

The Winter Olympic Games will be held from February 6 to 22, 2026, and will be the 25th in the history of these sports events. The competitions will be organized at venues in Milan, Cortina d'Ampezzo, Bormio and Livigno.

On November 23, it was reported that due to bad weather, the official Olympic flame lighting ceremony for the 2026 Winter Olympics would be held at the Archaeological Museum in Ancient Olympia.
