According to her in an interview with Radio 1, uncontrolled use of solutions can disrupt the natural functions of the nose and even lead to the spread of infection into the sinuses.

She noted that the abuse of vasoconstrictor drops is also dangerous.: they provide only short-term relief, are addictive and damage the mucous membrane.

Elizarova added that the treatment of a runny nose should begin with a specialist consultation. She pointed out that only a doctor, after diagnosis, can determine the cause of the disease — a virus, bacterium or allergy — and choose the appropriate therapy that excludes dangerous sprays and self-rinsing.
