AvtoVAZ may reduce production in Tolyatti by 40%

By the end of 2025, production of Lada cars at AvtoVAZ's Tolyatti site will decrease by 40% compared to last year and amount to 274 thousand cars. Such an assessment is provided in the materials for the meeting of the Tolyatti representative body, Intefax reported on November 24.

It is predicted that in monetary terms, the volume of products shipped by the automobile plant this year will amount to 464.5 billion rubles, which is 27.7% less than a year earlier.

AvtoVAZ produces Lada Granta, Vesta, Iskra, Niva (Legend and Travel) and Aura cars in Tolyatti. Next year, it is planned to establish mass production of the new Lada Azimut crossover there.

According to the analytical agency Autostat, sales of passenger cars in the Russian Federation in January-October of this year decreased by 19.9% to 1.06 million units. Sales for the same period decreased by a quarter, to 270.96 thousand units.

Earlier, on November 21, the head of AVTOVAZ Maxim Sokolov said that prices for Lada cars will be indexed due to an increase in the real cost of cars. He noted that by the end of 2025, the company intends to sell 370,000 vehicles, including exports, of which 350,000 are on the domestic market (a decrease of about 23% compared to 2024).
