VKKS allowed to open a case against a judge from Adygea Voitlev
The Higher Qualification Board of Judges (HCCC) of the Russian Federation has agreed to initiate criminal proceedings against Adam Voitlev, judge of the Shovgenovsky District Court of the Republic of Adygea. This was reported on November 24 by a correspondent of Izvestia.
Thus, the HCCC satisfied the submissions of the Chairman of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin.
According to the Investigative Committee, Voitlev, acting as chairman of the court, received a bribe of 2.5 million rubles through an intermediary. After that, he lifted the arrest from the property of the defendant, who was accused of fraud, and promised to help with the return of the case to the prosecutor's office.
Voitelev himself refused to testify in the case, referring to Article 51 of the Constitution, which allows not to testify against himself.
On November 21, a court sentenced Alan Marzaev, the former acting Deputy Prime Minister of Bashkortostan, to 13 years in a penal colony, who was accused of accepting a bribe. Marzaev was fined 560 million rubles, and also deprived of his right to hold certain positions for 12 years. The court decided to confiscate more than 37 million rubles illegally obtained to the state's income.
