The next stage of the Russian Grand Prix in Figure Skating has come to an end in Omsk, which has created serious intrigue both among singles and in sports pairs competitions. In the end, Daria Sadkova showed the best result for women, although Alina Gorbacheva was the leader after the short program with a slight advantage. And the performances of the men were marked by two amazing rentals by Peter Gumennik.

Sadkova's Progress and Petrosyan's Gestalt

After the performances the day before, Gorbacheva took over the leadership of the girls. And with her powerful quadruple salchow performance, she could easily have won the Grand Prix stage and shown that she had finally overcome all the health problems that had plagued her since the summer. The figure skater confidently started rolling, cleanly performing the ultra-si element with a good bonus. But then unexpected mistakes occurred on the cascades — the athlete failed twice with a double sheepskin coat: first she fell, and then touched the ice with her hand upon landing.

If Alina had had other competitors on the stage, even with such blemishes, one could have counted on gold. But Daria Sadkova and Alice Dvoeglazova in Omsk did not give Gorbachev such a chance. Eteri Tutberidze's students once again scored two fours. And she is getting closer to treading on the heels of Adelia Petrosyan, who also performed on the stage, but outside the competition — she performed the quad sheepskin coats superbly. As choreographer Daniel Gleichenhaus joked, "the gestalt was closed." However, Adelia fell from a triple lutz.

To everyone's surprise, Adelia appeared in the launch protocols on the night from Saturday to Sunday — and the plan worked. There was an important comeback on the eve of the Olympics — now the Russian woman has returned to the quadistok club, of which there are few in the world.

Dvoeglazova started her ride with a quadruple lutz and a sheepskin coat: so far she has been able to land only one. She also performed all the other elements cleanly and beat Gorbacheva in the free skate by more than eight points. Taking into account the small gap after the short one, Alice turned out to be higher than her opponent in the final protocol.

Well, the main star of the day this time was Sadkova. It's not the first season that she's been inserting fours into her rentals, but Daria usually doesn't get them during the starts. Let's recall at least the last stage in Moscow — two falls on quads. However, in Omsk, the figure skater did everything: clean quadruple sheepskin coats and good other jumps. Yes, there is still something to add: the arbitrators awarded only the first level of difficulty to her choreographic track. But this time the program looked in one go, and as a result, it earned the first place.

Muravyova could have completely removed Gorbachev from the podium, even without the elements of ultra-si in the application. But Sofia suddenly fell on the path of steps, and the judges also gave her a double sheepskin coat. With such a rental, the figure skater remained only the fourth.

Five quadruple Humennica

The intrigue also persisted in the men's tournament, although Humennik had taken a serious step towards victory the day before. Peter scored a cosmic 105.06 in the short program, pulling away from Evgeny Semenenko by more than 12 points.

And on Sunday, the skater decided to simply knock out his rivals by claiming five fours. And he did it: a clean rental with good allowances and easy jumps, like Sadkova's, looked very cool. In total, Peter received 311.12 points for both rentals. Of course, you shouldn't expect such favor from the judges at the Olympics, but you can certainly count on competing for awards. The main thing is to keep adding functionality. By the way, this is exactly what Humennik is going to do before the Russian Championship.

"I will build up my form and improve my technique. I plan to visit Rafael Vladimirovich (Harutyunyan) for two weeks. — Izvestia) in the USA. We will work on the jumps there, but we will also roll out the programs," the skater told reporters.

Evgeny Semenenko and Vladislav Dikidzhi looked very pale against Peter's background. The reigning champion of Russia performed three fours well, but then a butterfly on salchow followed, which deprived him of even a chance for silver, since he had a lot of mistakes in the short program.

Semenenko avoided falling, but frankly saved each of his ultra-si elements. The first green light on the scoreboard lit up only after the rotation, so the impression of the rental was blurred. As a result, he lost to Humennik by almost 50 (!) points in total.

Nikita Sarnovsky should be singled out from the rest of the participants in the Omsk stage: he was able to roll back the free program cleanly and rise to fourth place. Meanwhile, Andrei Mozalev and Daniil Samsonov continue to perform at the same level. Just like last season, it's extremely unstable.

A sensation in pairs

Well, the main sensation occurred in the competition of sports pairs. Ekaterina Chikmareva and Matvey Yanchenkov beat Anastasia Mishina and Alexander Gallyamov, who were in the lead after the short program. The 2021 world champions broke one of the supports and remained only in second place in terms of the total of two performances.

The duo, which has performed flawlessly for many years, is making mistakes for the second Grand Prix in a row. At the tournament in St. Petersburg, they lost to Alexandra Boikova and Dmitry Kozlovsky, and now to Pavel Slyusarenko's wards. An unpleasant trend, to put it mildly. On the other hand, there are objective reasons for this: preparations for the season were blurred due to Gallyamov's injury, and now it takes time to return to the previous level. Alexander reacts to failures emotionally. While waiting for the grades, he threw to his partner: "So think about whether it's worth further embarrassing yourself." Is this a breakup offer?

At the same time, we must pay tribute to Chikmareva and Yanchenkov — they rolled back their program very cleanly. Sharing her impressions on Channel One, Ekaterina admitted that this victory was psychologically very important for her before the Russian Championship.

"Now we know that it's possible to bypass Mishina and Gallyamov," said the figure skater.

Ekaterina Mironova and Evgeny Ustenko managed to keep the first place in ice dancing. Elizaveta Pasechnik and Dario Cirizano skated without breakdowns and falls this time, but were able to climb only one line up.

The closest to the leaders, according to the judges, were Elizaveta Shichina and Pavel Drozd. Anna Shcherbakova and Egor Goncharov rounded out the top three.
