British Prime Minister Keir Starmer may leave his post early next year. This was reported on November 22 by the Daily Mail (DM) newspaper, citing sources in the country's Labor Party.

"He was very calm. Not like a man carrying the whole world on his shoulders. Or someone who expects it to last a short time," the newspaper quoted an unnamed Labor MP as saying.

According to the publication, the May 2026 local elections are seen as a likely moment for a change in the UK leadership, if Starmer still retains his post before that time. Against the background of the party's low ratings (18% in polls) and internal competition, some members of the government are already preparing to fight for the post of leader, DM writes.

The newspaper also reports that the party notes changes in Starmer's behavior. One of the ministers drew attention to "something farewell" in a personal letter from the British Prime Minister to his son, published last week.

DM also cites survey data, according to which only 9% of voters believe that Starmer will retain the post of prime minister after the next election. At the same time, 69% of respondents consider the Labor Party to be "divided."

Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund and Special representative of the President of the Russian Federation for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, yesterday called Starmer and the leaders of the European Union (EU) leaders of chaos and warmongers. In this way, he commented on the prime minister's interview with British journalist Beth Rigby. She commented on the prime minister's policy, saying that Starmer "did not eliminate chaos," but became it himself.

The Russian ambassador to the kingdom, Andrei Kelin, said earlier at the same time that Britain was dragging out the conflict in Ukraine, as it still maintained an attitude of achieving Russia's defeat. According to the diplomat, this is not only about financial investments, where London is not a leader in Europe, but above all about information and propaganda and political and diplomatic efforts.
