The French National Assembly has rejected the budget bill for 2026. This was reported on November 22 by the Bloomberg news agency.

"The French National Assembly rejected part of the 2026 budget, which highlighted the uncertainty surrounding the [French] Prime minister's approach. Sebastian Lecorny's approach to solving the problem of bloated scarcity," the article says.

According to the agency, lawmakers voted against the revenue section of the bill.

It is indicated that this week the ministers warned that the amended version of the bill, presented by the National Assembly, will reduce the budget deficit, which is already the largest in the eurozone, from 5.4% this year to 5% of GDP, which is generally closer to the target of 4.7%. At the same time, the government stated that some of the approved measures, including taxes on multinational corporations and share buybacks, are not applicable in the proposed form.

Finance Minister Roland Lescure said that the far-right and far-left parties had chosen a "destructive strategy" in blocking the budget, but expressed optimism about further negotiations.

"I am convinced that most parliamentary groups will be able to find the necessary common ground that will allow our country to have a budget," Lescure said.

Only one legislator voted for the bill, while 404 voted against it. Another 84 abstained.

Earlier, on November 12, the French parliament suspended pension reform in the country. The parties "National Union", LR and Horizons opposed the continuation of the transformations. According to the newspaper, the suspension of the reform allowed Prime Minister Lecorn to avoid a vote of no confidence.
