Repilov and Peretyagin luge workers were arrested for fraud worth 11 million rubles.

Russian luge skiers Roman Repilov and Alexander Peretyagin were arrested on charges of embezzlement of 11 million rubles of budget funds. This was announced on November 22 by the press service of the Krasnoyarsk Regional Court.

"In relation to the accused Repilov, a preventive measure was chosen in the form of detention for a period of <...> one month," reads the message in the Telegram channel.

According to the court, three-time world champion Roman Repilov is accused of embezzling funds allocated for the purchase of sports sleds. Alexander Peretyagin, a specialist in the preparation of sports equipment at the FSUE "Center for Sports Training of Russian National Teams", was also arrested for a month — until December 20. Both athletes are being held in SIZO-1 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

It is clarified that the athletes are charged under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud on an especially large scale"). Repilov is a three—time world champion, six-time European Championships medalist and World Cup winner, Peretyagin is the silver medalist of the 2015 European Championships.

Earlier, on November 14, in Primorsky Krai, an official of the education department of the Dalnerechensk city district was arrested for two months for stealing budget funds. According to the prosecutor's office of the region, the amount of embezzlement amounted to more than 3.7 million rubles.
