A large fire broke out at the venue of the COP30 climate conference in the Brazilian city of Belém in Brazil, forcing everyone to evacuate. This was reported on November 20 by The New York Post (NYP).

It is specified that the flame broke out near the Chinese pavilion and quickly spread to other nearby areas, including the pavilions of Africa and youth sections.

According to Brazilian Minister of Tourism Celso Sabino, 13 people sought medical help after smoke inhalation. Organizers said the fire was contained after six minutes, but evacuation continued, and it was unclear when negotiations could resume.

The cause of the fire, according to preliminary data, could be a generator failure or a short circuit, said the governor of the state of Para Helder Barballo.

An explosion and subsequent fire at the Navajo Refinery in Artesia, New Mexico, injured three people on November 1. It was clarified that the rescue services received a signal about thick smoke spreading through the city. They arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire.
