GAC plans to bring its premium electric brands Aion and Hyptec to the Russian market in 2026. The Auto Mail project reported this on Thursday, November 20, citing a source in the company.

It is noted that this issue is being resolved at the moment. Among the planned first models are the Aion V crossover, Hyptec HL and Hyptec HT.

The Aion V electric crossover went on sale in China in July last year. The basic version costs from 130 thousand yuan (about 1.5 million rubles). The crossover is offered in three trim levels with different batteries. At the same time, GAC provides a lifetime warranty on the battery, but only for the first owner with a mileage of no more than 30 thousand km per year.

The Hyptec HL electric crossover has been on sale in China since the fall of 2023. The model is available in five- and six-seat versions with fully electric and hybrid powerplants. The cost of the car varies from 270 thousand to 320 thousand yuan (about 3-7 million rubles).

Earlier, on November 19, the analytical agency Autostat reported that in October of this year, the share of new Chinese-made passenger cars sold in Russia amounted to 49.6% of the total market (82.2 thousand units). The last time it was below the 50% mark was more than two years ago.

Experts explained that the decline in the share of Chinese brands is partly due to their "replacement" by cars of local brands. For example, in Belarus, Geely cars are produced under the Tenet brand, and in Russia, Chery is hidden under the Tenet and Xcite brands, said Sergey Tselikov, director of the agency.

It is noteworthy that in October, only two Chinese car brands entered the top 5 of the Russian market - Haval (second in the ranking) and Geely (third). Lada became the first, and Belgee and Tenet joined the top five (although Chery and Changan were in these positions instead in July).

Earlier in the day, it was reported that in December of this year, approximately 50% of Chinese passenger cars sold in Russia may be Russian-built, according to the website. kp.ru . Experts believe that more and more cars in Russia will be sold not under their own original brands, but under brands created specifically for the Russian market.

On November 9, auto expert Maxim Kadakov named Chinese car brands among the top 4 in the Russian market in terms of liquidity. These include Geely and Chery, Haval and Changan, reports 360.ru .
