Over the past day, 306 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 39 people were killed and 359 injured. 29 of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to Izvestia on November 20 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
So, in the Belgorod region, in the early morning, on 115 km of the federal highway M-2 "Crimea" — Prokhorovka — Gubkin — R-298, a 20-year-old passenger car driver drove into the oncoming lane of the road in a prohibited place, where he collided with a truck. As a result of the accident, the culprit of the collision and his peer, a passenger, were killed.
The State Traffic Inspectorate reminded drivers that in conditions of changing seasons with unstable weather in late autumn, they should reduce speed in advance and increase the distance to the vehicles in front, avoid frequent lane changes, sudden maneuvers and overtaking, strictly observe the requirements of traffic rules related to the start of traffic, lane changes, turns, U-turns and stops. Not only the life and health of the motorist himself, but also the lives and health of passengers and other road users depend on compliance with these motor safety measures and the level of personal driving discipline.
24 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which there were no fatalities, however, 28 road users, including one child, required medical assistance. 15 bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by their drivers.
As a result of 136 accidents, 74 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 62 outside their area of operation, 10 pedestrians were killed, 129 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 18 child pedestrians, 10 of whom were injured while crossing the roadway in designated areas.
So, in Mytishchi, near Moscow, during the daytime, a 25-year-old car driver ran over a 14-year-old schoolboy who was crossing the roadway at a controlled pedestrian crossing at a traffic light allowing him to move. The young pedestrian was injured and ended up in the hospital.
Over the past day, 27 accidents involving minors have also been registered on Russian roads, in which 28 young road users, including 10 passengers, were injured. There are no dead children.
"The State Traffic Inspectorate urges motorists to strictly follow the rules of the road and be more attentive on the roads of settlements and cities. Drivers should take special care when approaching intersections and pedestrian crossings. We recommend that you do not rush through them as quickly as possible, but slow down to the minimum speed in advance in order to stop the vehicle to allow pedestrians to pass or in case of a sudden change in the traffic situation," said Police Colonel Sergey Hrantskevich, head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of child traffic injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
On November 1, it was reported that following the results of the first nine months of 2025, a decrease in road traffic accidents was recorded in the Russian Federation. The number of road accidents decreased by 2.4% (94.9 thousand cases), the number of dead — by 3.4% (10.1 thousand people), injured — by 3% (117.7 thousand people).
