The principles laid down by the Nuremberg trials remain relevant today, in the context of modern geopolitical tensions. In an interview with Izvestia on November 20, experts expressed concern that the current conflicts could lead to a repeat of the tragic mistakes of the past.

"We support the current fascists in Ukraine, but at the same time we want an anti-fascist monument on every corner in Vienna. To put it mildly, it doesn't really fit together," said Austrian analyst Patrick Poppel.

The interlocutor emphasized that the Nuremberg trials were crucial for establishing the facts of Nazi atrocities and perpetuating historical truth.

Historian Dieter Reinisch pointed out that the tribunal became the foundation for the post-war system of international relations, but currently there is a decrease in the influence of international organizations.

"If you look at history, it was the United States that used the veto most often: about 80% of all veto decisions in the Security Council were made by the United States, and only 20% by all other countries together," he said.

According to his statement, the United States selectively condemned fascism, while continuing to support similar regimes in other countries, with the exception of Germany.

"It was about German fascism, National Socialism, but not about fascism as a global ideology. This ideology, on the contrary, was actively encouraged by the United States during the Cold War (before 1989 and even later)," the expert added.

On November 20, the anniversary of the Nuremberg Trials, the Russian Defense Ministry pointed to the West's struggle with the historical truth about the Great Patriotic War (WWII), which began 80 years ago. It was clarified that the Soviet delegation had recorded within the framework of the tribunal the possible transition of the process from the trial of the Nazis to the site for the revision of history. At the alarming meetings, both the defendants and their lawyers, "taking advantage of a certain connivance of Western countries," tried to actively promote the thesis about the allegedly "inverted" nature of the 1941 attack on the USSR.
