Axios revealed the reason for the cancellation of the meeting between Zelensky and Witkoff in Turkey

The meeting of the US President's special envoy Steve Witkoff with Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky in Turkey was canceled after it became clear that the latter did not want to discuss the settlement plan proposed by Washington. This was reported on November 19 by the Axios portal, citing an American official.

"The meeting was postponed when it became clear that Zelensky was reneging on the agreements reached with the head of the NSDC (National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine. — Ed.) by Rustem Umerov, and is not interested in discussing the plan," the publication says.

According to another American official, the meeting was also canceled amid a major corruption scandal in the energy sector in Ukraine. At the same time, a Ukrainian official said that Zelensky had decided to discuss a settlement plan with the participation of European countries.

Axios notes that US President Donald Trump supported Witkoff's decision to cancel a meeting with Zelensky in Turkey. In turn, the Ukrainian leader arrived in Ankara with a settlement plan prepared with the participation of European partners.
