The authorities of Birobidzhan explained the rise in bus fares

The mayor's office of Birobidzhan explained why it was decided to increase the cost of public transport from December 1 to 35 rubles. This is due to rising fuel, maintenance, and salary costs.

As stated in the message of the city administration, which is cited by IA EAOmedia, the prices of gasoline and diesel fuel are constantly rising, because of this, the costs of carriers are increasing. They have grown by 49% in two years. Costs are being increased by inflation and higher cost of transportation maintenance.

The cost of spare parts, maintenance, and repairs has also increased by 28% in two years, while salary costs have increased by 20.5%. Thus, the economically reasonable fare for December 1 was 35 rubles per passenger and one baggage seat.

Due to the incessant complaints from residents of the city, the mayor's office plans to tighten control over the observance of the timetable by road carriers. In the near future, the city administration will hold a meeting with carriers to discuss the problems.

The agency notes that the fare for passenger transportation in the capital of the EAO is now 29 rubles. It has not changed since November 1, 2023.

Earlier it was reported that preparations are underway in Birobidzhan for the construction of a new bridge over the Biru River. The specialists conducted engineering surveys, which resulted in determining the technical parameters of the facility. The bridge will be built as part of a concession agreement, which was concluded with the support of Presidential Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev at the end of 2024. The length of the structure will exceed 350 m. It will be supported by 12 pillars. Two 3.5 m wide lanes will be covered with crushed stone-mastic asphalt concrete. The width of the pedestrian sidewalks will be 2.5 m each.
