The business program of the V Congress of Young Scientists, which will be held on November 26-28, 2025 in the federal territory of Sirius, has been published. The Congress will be attended by leading Russian and foreign scientists, heads of scientific and educational organizations, government officials, heads of major Russian companies, students and schoolchildren from Russia and other countries. The Congress of Young Scientists is a key annual event of the Decade of Science and Technology, announced by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin in 2022-2031.
The key theme of the Congress will be "The energy of Science: from the potential of knowledge to the creation of the future." The plenary session will be devoted to the same topic. The program will include four thematic tracks dedicated to the scientific development of key and strategic industries, the implementation of the initiatives of the Decade of Science and Technology, the development of scientific infrastructure and human resources, and international scientific cooperation.
"This year's rich program of the Congress of Young Scientists reflects the diversity of the Russian scientific landscape: the development of innovative technologies, the connection between business and science, the transfer of innovations from science to economics, international scientific cooperation, and the initiatives of the Decade of Science and Technology are on the agenda. The great role of the Congress of Young Scientists is that all these issues are discussed on the same platform with a representative scientific community, and measures to support science and initiatives are adapted in real time. The future of science is being created here in an atmosphere of exchange of ideas, enthusiasm and scientific creativity," said Anton Kobyakov, Chairman of the interdepartmental working group on the preparation and holding of the Congress of Young Scientists and satellite events, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation.
A number of key sessions will be devoted to energy: 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the nuclear industry, and Congress participants will discuss the contribution of science to the development of the nuclear industry and other key industries.
Discussion "80th anniversary of the nuclear industry. Pride. Inspiration. Dream" will be dedicated to the history of development, modern challenges and the future of the nuclear industry. It will be attended by Andrei Fursenko, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, Sergey Naryshkin, Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Russian Historical Society, Mikhail Kovalchuk, President of the Kurchatov Institute, and Alexey Likhachev, Director General of the Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation. The participants will talk about the development of the industry since the beginning of the atomic era and how technologies that once seemed fantastic are now at the service of humanity.
With the support of the Rosatom State Corporation, a discussion "From the first NPP in Russia to global technological leadership" will be held with the participation of representatives of departments responsible for the development of the nuclear industry in the Arab Republic of Egypt, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, and international organizations. The discussion will focus on the development of the nuclear industry as a basis for international cooperation and the formation of a new technological order in various industries, from medicine and space to quantum computing and the creation of new materials.
The participants of the session "Energy: Present and Future" will consider Russia's Energy Strategy until 2050, achieving technological sovereignty of the fuel and energy complex, ensuring technological leadership and developing the human resources potential of the industry. Scientists and power engineers will discuss key challenges facing the industry: technological and digital transformation, the introduction of energy-efficient solutions, increasing the share of low-carbon generation, scaling energy storage, and the creation of import-independent technological chains.
The discussion "Towards technological leadership in the fuel and energy sector" will focus on the role of young scientists in achieving technological sovereignty and transition to technological leadership in the energy industry through the creation of fundamentally new solutions in the field of exploration and production of minerals, energy storage systems, renewable energy sources, biodegradable materials and other developments. A number of sessions of the business program will be devoted to the development of the chemical industry and the implementation of the national project "New Materials and Chemistry".
The regional agenda will be devoted to the discussion "The Governor as a catalyst for the development of science in the region" with the participation of the heads of the subjects of the Russian Federation: Dmitry Artyukhov, Governor of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Stanislav Voskresensky, Governor of the Ivanovo Region, Elena Shmeleva, Chairman of the Council of the Sirius Federal Territory, Head of the Talent and Success Educational Foundation, and Elena Shmeleva, First Deputy Governor of the Tula Region. – Mikhail Panteleev, Chairman of the Government of the Tula Region, Tatyana Leonova, Deputy Governor of the Kaluga Region, Nikolai Fedoseyenkov, Deputy Head of the Tambov Region. The participants will consider the role of governors in the development of science and technology in the region, including the formation of strategic policy and the creation of a favorable environment for researchers and innovators, and the best practices of Russia's technological regions.
