Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council (NSDC), who was suspected of fleeing the country amid a corruption scandal, met President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky at the airport in Ankara. This was reported on November 19 by the newspaper "Mirror of the Week".
"Vladimir Zelensky has arrived in Ankara, where he will meet with Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan today. At the airport, the Ukrainian president was met by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov, among other officials," the Telegram channel of the publication says.
At the same time, the media noted the absence in Turkey of the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Ermak, who is associated with the corruption schemes of the Kiev regime.
Earlier, on November 17, Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexei Goncharenko (listed in the Russian Federation as a terrorist and extremist) said that Umerov, amid reports of possible involvement in the corruption scheme of businessman Timur Mindich, did not arrive home on the previously scheduled dates and extended his business trip until November 19.
Zelensky announced on November 18 that he plans to travel to Turkey in order to resume negotiations on the Ukrainian settlement. He said that the Ukrainian side has developed solutions that they are ready to offer to their partners.
