After the end of the Ukrainian conflict, a number of European countries that depend on Russia in one way or another will be interested in restoring relations. This was stated by State Duma deputy Svetlana Zhurova on Tuesday, November 18.

"For many Western states, the breakup of contacts with Moscow, in principle, turned out to be not very comfortable: the economy is falling, money is not being spent where it could be, and energy prices are rising. In particular, these are those countries that depend on cheaper Russian gas — they can try to restore relations faster," the deputy suggested in a conversation with Lenta.Ru .

According to Zhurova, German parliamentarians are already saying that businesses are starting to transfer production from Germany to other countries where costs are lower. For this reason, ties with Russia are relevant for this state, she believes.

"And someone is interested in the return of different tourists - everyone has a different situation. Some people don't want to separate from us at all, like Hungary, Slovakia, Serbia. Each country will restore relations in its own way, but do not think that as soon as the Ukrainian conflict ends, everyone will run away to buy our energy resources. It will take time," the politician concluded.

Earlier, on November 17, the head of the German Council for Constitution and Sovereignty, Ralf Niemeyer, said that the Russian-German dialogue could be restored in the future, and the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline would become one of the key elements, RT reports.

According to the politician, Berlin will have to rethink its approach to providing the country with energy resources. He recalled that Russia had remained a reliable supplier for decades. Life.Ru .

Niemeyer also stressed that the German economy is going through a crisis, and a way out of it is possible only with joint efforts with Moscow, according to the website. kp.ru . In this context, the Russian-German pipeline, according to him, is considered as one of the most significant peaceful ones.

Earlier, on September 4, Niemeyer said that the conclusion of a direct agreement between Russia and Germany on the Nord Stream gas pipeline would be more in the interests of Germany than Russia. According to him, American investor Stephen Lynch showed interest in buying the pipeline. And if the deal had taken place, Germany would have been forced to buy Russian gas at very inflated prices.
