Reuters has learned about Witkoff's participation in talks with Zelensky in Turkey
Stephen Witkoff, the US President's special Envoy for peacekeeping Missions, plans to travel to Turkey on November 19 to take part in scheduled talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. This was reported on November 18 by the Reuters news agency, citing a Turkish source.
"Witkoff will visit Turkey on Wednesday and take part in scheduled talks with Zelensky," the agency quoted a Turkish source as saying.
Earlier, on November 19, the Ukrainian leader announced that he plans to travel to Turkey in order to resume negotiations on the Ukrainian settlement. He said that the Ukrainian side has developed solutions that they are ready to offer to their partners. According to Zelensky, as part of plans to intensify negotiations on the settlement of the conflict, work is underway to resume the exchange and return of prisoners.
On November 12, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Kyslytsa announced that Ukraine had officially halted peace talks with Russia by the end of the year.
Later, on November 13, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the termination of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia indicates that the Ukrainian side does not want to continue the conversation, which is sad. As a result, due to the lack of dialogue between the countries, the Russian Federation will continue to conduct a special military operation.
