Putin signed a law on life imprisonment for inciting children to sabotage

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law on amendments to the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The document was published on November 17 on the website of the official Internet portal of legal information.

Now, the involvement of minors in terrorist or sabotage activities will be criminalized by life imprisonment. The statute of limitations for all crimes of a subversive nature was also lifted. In addition, the right to parole is limited and the possibility of a suspended sentence for participation in subversive communities is excluded.

It also introduces the responsibility of organizers for all crimes committed by their community. Among other changes, persons from the age of 14 may be held criminally liable for crimes of sabotage and terrorism.

Earlier, on November 11, this law was adopted by the State Duma (State Duma). According to Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma, recruiters are increasingly targeting teenagers and students using social networks and online games.
