Starting from January 1, wages of 5 million Russians will increase. This will happen due to the new legislative norm on the outstripping growth of the minimum wage at a rate exceeding the growth of the subsistence minimum and the consumer price index. This became known at a meeting between Vladimir Putin and Chairman of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia (FNPR) Sergey Chernogaev on November 17. Today, the federation is acting very effectively, and in working with the government and employers, it often acts as an opponent, protecting the rights and interests of employees, Vladimir Putin noted. At the same time, trade unions are actively helping in the war zone.

What was discussed at the meeting

The Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia, which turns 35 this year, is working effectively and protecting the rights and interests of workers, Vladimir Putin said. It includes 44 industry-wide Russian trade unions, uniting almost 19 million people.: These are both working people and students of secondary and higher educational institutions.

The President recalled that the FNPR also performs its functions as a partner in the trilateral commission, interacting with employers and the government.

— Often, very often, he acts not as a partner, but as an opponent, fulfilling his function to protect the rights of workers. There is really a lot of work," Vladimir Putin remarked.

The head of the FNPR, Sergey Chernogaev, spoke about the changes to the Labor Code of the Russian Federation regarding the establishment of additional payments to employees who perform the functions of mentors in the field of labor. According to his estimates, the changes affected 4 million people.

—Mentoring is what makes it possible to train workers most effectively and enter the profession faster," Chernogaev emphasized.

Vladimir Putin also noted the special role of mentoring.

In Russia, the norm has been legally established for the outstripping growth of the minimum wage at a rate exceeding the growth rates of the subsistence minimum and the consumer price index. Thanks to this, 4.2 million workers have increased their salaries, and on January 1, it will increase for another 5 million Russians.

The trade unions continue to work in dangerous conditions in the special operation zone and provide assistance to their participants, the president noted. In particular, the FNPR has collected more than 4 billion rubles of aid and sent over 38 thousand tons of humanitarian supplies. Also, due to the fact that 42,000 trade union members became permanent donors, 90 tons of blood were collected.
