In the year from autumn 2024 to autumn 2025, Russians reduced cigarette purchases by 23%, Kontur analysts estimate.Yandex. Market. They examined more than 4.3 million receipts from retail outlets across the country, they reported on November 17.

The average price of a pack of cigarettes increased from 206 to 232 rubles, which was an increase of 13%. At the same time, in almost all regions, the rise in tobacco prices did not stop the decline in demand, with the exception of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, where sales increased by 5% despite a 13% increase in prices.

"As of November 1, 2025, the total number of shops selling tobacco products in the country increased by 39.8%," RIA Novosti analysts noted.

Earlier, on November 6, Yaroslav Nilov, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Labor and Social Policy, called for a complete ban on vaping in Russia. According to him, the use of these devices among young people is becoming more widespread, and bloggers and opinion leaders are giving teenagers a false idea of the "safety" of the product.
