The first tangerines appeared at weekend fairs in Moscow
On the occasion of Santa Claus's birthday, which is celebrated on November 18, the first tangerines from the southern regions appeared at weekend fairs in Moscow. This was reported on the website of the Moscow City Hall on Sunday, November 16.
Fruits are imported from Crimea and Krasnodar Territory. There are different varieties, including miniature sweet fruits and boneless varieties with a slight sourness, in some varieties the peel may remain greenish even when ripe.
It is noted that tangerines are useful in winter because of their high vitamin content and help maintain the immune system. Farmers are advised to choose fruits with a firm skin and a bright aroma. They are stored at room temperature for about a week, and in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
It is reported that citrus fruits go well with seasonal products and are suitable for making salads, sauces and jams. The "Suspended Tangerine" campaign also operates at fairs, supporting the New Year's tradition of giving treats, the Moscow City News Agency reports.
Products are brought to the fairs from more than 40 regions of the country. Over the summer, about 4 million people visited them, and almost 5.5 thousand tons of goods were sold, Moscow 24 said. It is noted that the seats for the participants are free, and the pavilions are equipped with the necessary equipment and are located near the metro and in other crowded places.
On October 10, nutritionist Elena Solomatina spoke about the contraindications to the use of citrus fruits in diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. She explained that the high concentration of fruit acids in tangerines, oranges and grapefruits irritates the mucous membrane, RT reports.
In September, nutritionist Irina Pisareva urged not to eat citrus fruits on an empty stomach. According to her, oranges, tangerines, lemons, grapefruits and juices from them contain large amounts of fruit acids that increase the acidity of an empty stomach, notes 360.ru . This can lead to heartburn, gastritis, or ulcers.
In March, Deputy Mayor of the capital Natalia Sergunina said that vegetables and fruits are traditionally in the greatest demand at weekend fairs, especially potatoes, apples and tangerines, meat and dairy products, fish and seafood.
