The restoration of the Courtyard of the Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve in Moscow has been completed. This was announced by the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, on Sunday, November 16.
He noted that the building is located in the center of the historical part of the reserve, next to the temples of the XVI–XVII centuries and, together with the surrounding buildings, forms the ensemble of the former royal estate. The mayor recalled that the Sytny Dvor was built in the 17th century as part of the residence of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich: then it was one-story and included several chambers where bread was baked, kvass, wine, fish and meat dishes were prepared, and supplies were stored. In the 1760s, it was built on the second floor, later the building was used for household needs, then as a hotel and a zemstvo school.
According to the mayor, during the year, specialists restored the facades, the stucco cornice, the belt above the basement, restored the white stone steps, walls, ceilings, windows, doors and floor coverings. New engineering equipment has been installed for further operation, the Moscow City News Agency reports.
He also noted that the work on the preservation of Peter the Great's house and the Church of the Ascension of the Lord, a monument included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, has recently been completed. Now, after the restoration, a substantial courtyard is also available, where a temporary exhibition "Romanovs. From Peterhof to Moscow," writes "Moscow 24".
