More than 1 million trips were made by passengers on electric vessels during river navigation in Moscow. This was announced on Sunday, November 16, by Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of the capital for Transport and Industry.

So, over 42 thousand flights were performed during the season, which exceeded the figure of last year by more than 40%, the Moscow City News agency notes. The Department of Transport noted that from May to November, passengers made over 1 million trips and that regular routes continue to operate even after the end of navigation. The electric vessels and crews are fully prepared for winter, and the year-round schedule helps passengers shorten the journey by 30-40 minutes, Moscow 24 writes. It was specified that the development of river routes will be continued on behalf of the city administration.

The Moscow Electric vessels are the world's first year-round electric water transport. They can withstand work in freezing conditions due to the reinforced hull and the "Ice-20" class. In winter, they are provided with icebreaking escort, which allows them to keep moving on all lines. Currently, there are three regular routes in the city: "Kievsky" – "Fili Park", "ZIL" – "Pechatniki" and "Novospassky" – "ZIL".

On September 1, the Moscow fleet of regular river electric transport was replenished with two vessels, traditionally named after the small rivers of the capital — "Pekhorka" and "Lyuberka", writes RT.

In June, the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, announced the opening of a third regular river transport route. Route No. 3 passes through four districts of the city — Zamoskvorechye, Danilovsky, Tagansky and Yuzhnoportovy, where more than 55 thousand people live.
