Gavrilov proposed to simplify early retirement for a long period of service
On November 15, State Duma Deputy Sergei Gavrilov proposed simplifying the procedure for early retirement for citizens with extended seniority. According to him, the length of service required to exercise the right to retire two years earlier should be expanded in order to restore fairness in the pension system.
"In April 2024, the rules for calculating insurance length of service were amended by a government decree to clarify the accounting procedure for certain periods of work and other activities when assigning an early long-term pension. Now, for citizens, the application of the previous procedure has been temporarily suspended, which requires additional regulatory regulation," Gavrilov told TASS.
He explained that we are talking about the right to retire two years earlier with 42 years of experience for men and 37 years for women. According to him, the law guarantees such a right, but by-laws have actually limited its implementation.
"To restore the balance, it is necessary to clarify the counting rules, taking into account the current law, and return the ability to include documented work periods, even if they occur before the adoption of the law," the deputy stressed.
