- Thomas Crooks acted alone according to the FBI during the assassination attempt on Trump.
The FBI has determined that Thomas Matthew Crooks, accused of attempting to assassinate US President Donald Trump, acted alone and did not disclose his intentions to anyone. This was announced on November 14 by the head of the bureau, Kesh Patel.
"An investigation conducted by more than 480 FBI employees found that Crooks had limited contacts both online and in real life, planned and carried out the attack alone and did not disclose his intention to commit the attack to anyone," Patel wrote on the social network.
Law enforcement officers conducted more than a thousand interrogations, processed more than 2 thousand messages from citizens, analyzed data from 13 devices and checked about 500 thousand digital files. The financial activity of the suspect and his accounts in social networks and online forums were also studied.
There were two assassination attempts on Trump in 2024. The first occurred on July 13 at an election rally in Pennsylvania, where the politician was wounded in the ear at a tangent. The second was on September 15 at a golf club in West Palm Beach, when a shooting occurred just 500 meters from Trump's location.
In both cases, the perpetrators were apprehended, and after that, the FBI increased security measures at election events, including thorough screening of visitors, enhanced monitoring of social networks, and coordination with local law enforcement agencies.
