The explosion at the Novgam police station claimed the lives of seven people.
An explosion occurred at the Novgam police station in the Jammu and Kashmir region, killing seven people and injuring 27 others, NDTV reported on November 15, citing sources.
The incident occurred when a group of forensic experts, together with the police, were checking explosives stored at the station. According to sources, most of the dead were police officers and members of the forensic medical team, as well as two officials from the Srinagar administration. Five victims are in critical condition.
The explosion occurred while checking the confiscated explosives. Senior officers arrived at the scene, the area is cordoned off, and an investigation is underway into the circumstances of the explosion.
It is noted that the Novgam police station had previously identified a network associated with the terrorist organization Jaish-i-Mohammed, which led to the discovery of a powerful explosive and the arrest of several individuals. Investigators believe that the nature of the explosion indicates that the suspects may have improperly assembled an improvised explosive device, which led to an accidental detonation.
On November 11, an explosion occurred in front of a courthouse in Islamabad, Pakistan, killing 12 people and injuring 21 others. The explosive device detonated in a car parked nearby.
