The Budget Committee of the German parliament has approved a defense spending project of 108.2 billion euros for 2026. This was announced on November 14 on the website of the German Ministry of Defense.

"The total amount of funds exceeds €108 billion, which corresponds to the updated plans of the federal government," the document says.

It is noted that due to the changed priorities of the department, the command wants to increase purchases of armored vehicles and auxiliary vehicles, as well as purchase uniforms and combat equipment for 460,000 military personnel.

Earlier, on November 13, the Bild newspaper, citing government sources, reported that the ruling coalition of Germany's SPD and CDU/CSU bloc had agreed on a draft law on possible conscription by lot. It was noted that military service will remain voluntary, but if there is a shortage of volunteers, a draw will be held.
