Customs noted a multiple increase in the import of cars in the Far East
In late October and early November, the import of passenger cars from China through automobile and sea checkpoints in the Far East increased sharply. This was announced on November 14 by the Federal Customs Service (FCS) on its website.
From November 1 to November 12, Ussuri customs officers issued 4,477 passenger cars, which is 3.5 times more than in the same period last year and 25% more than in the whole of November last year. On November 12 alone, 617 cars were registered. Also, since the beginning of the month, 1007 trucks have arrived in Russia through automobile checkpoints in Primorsky Krai, which delivered 5,528 vehicles. This is almost four times more than at the same time a year earlier.
"A multiple increase in imports of cars for personal use has led to an accumulation of car carriers at the entrances to separate temporary storage warehouses in Ussuriysk. The reasons for this are the limited space for placing vehicles on these warehouses and the unwillingness of carriers to go to other more vacant warehouses in the region of operation of the Ussuriysk customs," the FCS said.
The customs authority stressed that a number of measures had been taken, in particular, the number of places for completing transit had been increased and the work shifts of the specialized departments of the customs post had been strengthened. Despite the increase in traffic, vehicles are processed on time, they said.
It is also noted that Vladivostok customs has recorded an increase in the import of cars by sea. In October, 38.5 thousand cars were registered, which is 32% more year-on-year. From November 1 to November 12, the volume of imports reached almost 15.7 thousand cars for personal use. Japanese-made cars are most often imported, with a significant increase in shipments from South Korea.
Earlier, on November 10, it was reported that in October of this year, Vladivostok Customs set a new record for registration of vehicles for personal use. In the middle of autumn, customs officers issued 38.5 thousand vehicles. The increase was 24.3% compared to September of this year, and 31.9% compared to October of last year.
On November 6, it became known that 59.9 thousand used cars were imported to Russia in October. This is a record figure for the entire history of import monitoring, that is, for the last at least 25 years.
