The expert named ways to safely wipe the glue off your fingers
Superglue often becomes a cause of household inconvenience when a dense film tightly adheres to the skin and after a few seconds "fuses" with the surface layer of the epidermis. As Tulebai Sagitov, brand coach at AKFIX-RUS, told Izvestia on November 15, there is no need to panic in such a situation: the glue can be safely removed if you act correctly and do not try to tear it off by force.
The expert explained that the strong adhesion of superglue is related to its composition. Cyanoacrylate reacts instantly with moisture, which is always present on the skin, so the substance is fixed especially firmly. Sagitov emphasizes that attempts to tear off the adhesive film mechanically can lead to injury and the risk of infection, so such actions are unacceptable.
"It's better to start with the mildest ways. Warm water with soap and baking soda helps to gradually soften the film, and a soft washcloth helps to gently remove part of it. If a stronger effect is required, a nail polish remover with acetone is suitable. It destroys the structure of the glue, but you need to use it carefully, and after the procedure, you must apply the cream because of the drying effect," the specialist shared.
For people with sensitive skin, vegetable oil is suitable, which acts slower but milder. Combined with a light massage, it gradually weakens the adhesive's adhesion to the skin.
Sagitov noted that some actions are strictly prohibited. Do not try to separate the glue with nails or sharp objects, use gasoline or white spirit, or rub the skin with harsh abrasives. All this can cause damage and burns. If superglue gets on the mucous membranes, especially in the eyes, there should be only one solution — immediate medical attention.
The expert stressed that the best way to avoid such situations is to wear gloves and not ignore the instructions. This will protect your hands and reduce the risk of unpleasant consequences during household repairs.
Oleg Dubrovin, head of the Dyatkovo Design Training department, told Izvestia on September 2 about the care of furniture items, which will preserve their appearance for many years to come. He clarified that it is recommended to wipe varnished surfaces once a day with a dry microfiber cloth, and once a week with a slightly damp cloth or soaked in a special pH—neutral product.
