The weather forecaster spoke about the temperature in Russia in the coming winter

The upcoming winter in Russia will be colder than the previous one, but the temperature will remain warmer than normal. This was announced on November 14 by the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of the Russian Federation Roman Vilfand.

According to him, winter is not predicted to be cold this year, meaning temperatures are expected to be above normal.

"If we compare, usually such a comparison is made with the previous winter period of 2024-2025, then this winter is noticeably colder than last year. Last year, if you remember, it was a very warm winter," Vilfand said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The forecaster added that an increased number of thaws are also expected in winter, however, the temperature may drop to -20 degrees or lower. Vilfand stressed that the probability of such a scenario is 65-68%.

Yesterday, Vilfand said that snow had already covered 80% of the entire territory of Russia. According to him, snow has already fallen in the Northwestern Federal District - in the Nenets Autonomous District, in the east of the Arkhangelsk Region, in the Komi Republic and in the Murmansk Region. The forecaster clarified that the amount of snow is still small, but it has been steadily lying in the listed regions for the past five days.
