New letters from the infamous billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, who was involved in sex trafficking, have leaked on the social network. It follows from them that Donald Trump knew about the dark deeds of his former friend and was even one of his clients. Despite the White House's denials, this turn of events leads to a further drop in the ratings of the US president and a split in the Republican Party, experts told Izvestia. How new details of the case risk leading to the fiasco of the "reds" in the congressional elections in 2026 and the launch of impeachment against Trump - in the Izvestia article.

Democrats insist on Epstein-Trump ties

On the day Donald Trump signed the shutdown law, unpublished letters from infamous financier Jeffrey Epstein leaked on the social network. Democrats from the Congressional oversight committee posted screenshots of three emails on the social network X, from which it follows that Trump may not only have known about the crimes of the late Epstein, but also participated in them.

In 2008, successful financier Jeffrey Epstein pleaded guilty to organizing prostitution and was convicted of raping a minor. In the summer of 2019, he was detained again, accused of trafficking girls, including 14-year-olds, and inciting them to prostitution. In August of the same year, the 66-year-old billionaire committed suicide in prison without waiting for a trial.

In the first excerpt of the 2011 letter, Epstein wrote to his accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell, who is currently serving a 20-year sentence for organizing sex trafficking of minors. According to the document, one of his victims allegedly spent several hours with Trump at his house, but "he was never mentioned."

"I want you to understand that the dog that didn't bark is Trump," Epstein wrote.

The other two letters were addressed to writer Michael Wolf, who in 2018 released a book critical of Trump and his administration, "Flame and Fury." In the 2015 correspondence, they discussed Epstein's strategy in case Trump becomes president. "If it turns out that he can really win, you can save him by giving him a sense of duty," Wolf wrote to Epstein, hinting at Trump's involvement. Finally, in 2019, the financier wrote directly: "Of course, he knew about the girls because he asked Ghislaine to stop."

The White House expectedly denied the publications, calling them hoaxes and an attempt by the Democrats to distract attention from the shutdown that is coming to an end in the United States.

— The fact remains that President Trump kicked Jeffrey Epstein out of his club decades ago for harassing his female employees. "These stories are nothing more than unscrupulous attempts to divert attention from President Trump's historic achievements, and any American with common sense can see through this hoax and a clear distraction from the resumption of government work," said White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt.

It is well known that Trump and Epstein have known each other since the 1990s. As part of the American elite, they attended social events and private parties together. After more than 10 years, they stopped communicating. At the same time, there is no documentary evidence of Trump's involvement in the dark affairs of his former friend. After Epstein's arrest in 2019, his acquaintance with Trump was discussed, but the current US president did not go through any of the episodes of the investigation. Moreover, during the election campaign, he used the "Epstein case" in his favor, loudly promising to declassify the materials, hinting that a considerable number of Democrats had "lit up" there.

In early 2025, Attorney General Pam Bondi announced that the "Epstein list" (a hypothetical document that should contain the names of his high-ranking clients) was "on her desk" and she was ready to publish it. However, in July, the Ministry of Justice announced that there was no list, and the Prosecutor General's documents did not contain any new facts, so no information would be declassified. This turn of events provoked rumors that the name of Donald Trump himself was found on the lists.

A number of secret documents, including Epstein's letters, eventually leaked to Congress, after which the Democrats decided to launch a deliberate attack on the current president in order to undermine his political rating.

Experts, as well as Trump's supporters, also pay attention to the fact that three fragments of letters were published on the same day when the president signed the law ending the shutdown in the United States. It is possible that his opponents wanted to overshadow this achievement of the head of the White House, political analyst Alexei Chernyaev told Izvestia.

"This is an attempt to prevent Trump from claiming that he has won the shutdown," the expert believes.

How will the Epstein case affect Trump's rating

While still at large, Jeffrey Epstein told a journalist that he had photos of Trump with girls in swimsuits, possibly minors, hanging in his kitchen. Despite the fact that there is no documentary evidence of this, the whole situation around the case is damaging the reputation of the Republican leader, American scholar Malek Dudakov told Izvestia.

— If these photos come out, it will be a huge blow for Trump. But in any case, I think it will negatively affect his ratings, because this is a serious matter," says the political scientist.

The situation for Trump is aggravated by the fact that the scandal surrounding the figure of Epstein is causing a serious stir in American society. Research shows that only 3% of American adults are satisfied with the level of disclosure in this case. A YouGov poll showed that 40% of adults are sure that Donald Trump was involved in it one way or another.

— About 10 years ago, there were rumors that pedophiles were working in the presidential administration, doing dirty deeds, hiding it. Now it turns out that the US elite is deeply involved in this kind of dark stories. Naturally, this undermines the legitimacy of the entire political system," the expert explained.

The scandal surrounding the case provokes a split within the Republican Party. There are more and more dissatisfied with the behavior of Trump, who, despite all his promises, did not publish the "Epstein list." Moreover, it undermines the trust of the Republicans from their conservative electorate, which is why they risk losing to the Democrats in the midterm congressional elections in 2026, Alexey Chernyaev believes. With this outcome, impeachment proceedings may be launched against Trump, which will eventually lead to a drop in his rating again.

— If the Democrats win the congressional elections in 2026, they will launch a major investigation into Trump and try to arrange impeachment proceedings. It is unlikely that it will be successful, but they will try to give Trump blood," says Malek Dudakov.

However, no documentary or reliable evidence of Trump's involvement in the "Epstein case" has yet been published. Therefore, it makes no sense to talk about the "funeral" of the Trump presidency ahead of time, the expert concluded.
