German-Russian relations have sunk to their lowest level since the creation of the Federal Republic of Germany. This was stated on November 13 in a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry, published on the agency's website.

"Due to the fault of the ruling political elites in Germany today, they are at their lowest point since the formation of the Federal Republic of Germany. In Berlin, they relied on a policy of revenge and severing the multifaceted ties between our countries that had developed over decades, intending to inflict a "strategic defeat" on Russia, the ministry said.

The Foreign Ministry also stressed that Germany's claims to "leadership" evoke repulsive historical parallels among sound political forces in Europe.

At the same time, Russia, as stated in the ministry, is ready to maintain contacts with representatives of German civil society.

Earlier, on November 11, Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergey Nechaev said that attempts to organize the architecture of European security without Russia's participation and inflict a strategic defeat on it have no prospects and are counterproductive. In addition, he expressed hope for the restoration of normal Russian-German relations, noting that German politicians and activists who are aware of the counterproductivity of the anti-Russian course are also determined to do so.
