Philippines deports Russian wanted by Interpol
The Philippines has deported Zakhar Zverev, a Russian accused of fraud. This was reported on November 13 on the website of the Russian Prosecutor General's Office.
"At the initiative of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, the competent authorities of the Republic of the Philippines are deporting Zakhar Zverev, who is charged under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Fraud)," the statement said.
According to investigators, in May 2021, Zverev organized a group whose members posed as employees of credit institutions or law enforcement agencies and stole money from Russians.
However, the fraudster escaped from the investigation and in May 2023 the Prosecutor General's Office put him on the international wanted list. It is noted that the total amount of damage caused was over 3.6 million rubles.
"Today, at the Manila airport, the person involved was handed over to representatives of the Russian Interpol Bureau for delivery to Moscow," said Irina Volk, an official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.
Earlier, on August 21, at the request of the Russian Prosecutor General's Office, Kamal Kimpaev was extradited from Costa Rica, accused of fraud and money laundering in the amount of almost 830 million rubles. It was clarified that Kimpaev had absconded from the investigation in October 2022 and was put on the international wanted list.
